What the new lending rules and weather has done to our market

Monday Feb 12th, 2018

We are now in to our second month of the year and the numbers for January aren't too surprising considering how 2017 ended, the change in mortgage lending and the weather. The average price of a home sold in Toronto was $736,783. down 4.1% from last January. This is the weakest January since 2009. Most of the decline was for detached houses. The condo market continues to increase, with the average sale at $507,492 which is 14.6% higher than January 2017. The Toronto Real Estate Board is... [read more]

What does 2018 hold in the market?

Tuesday Jan 2nd, 2018

Happy new year! I hope you had a merry holiday season. It was another good year in real estate, despite the regulation changes the government made to cool our market down. There was a cooling, and the year comparison show sales were down, but demand is still higher then inventory.  Some brokerages and other experts are saying 2018 will be a strong year with a rise in home prices, but not nearly what we've seen earlier in 2017 and 2016. There could be some ups and downs but... [read more]

What's going on with the real estate market?

Monday Jun 5th, 2017

Wow! What's happening to the real estate market?! Until some time passes and it settles in to a pattern, everybody's guessing. It is definitely in a transition and depending on what street or building the property for sale is, it's a toss of the dice how a sale will go. An open house can be a lonely place to hang out or as busy as what agents are used to in the recent past. Looking at the numbers there is a cooling off and Richmond Hill, Markham and Newmarket were the hardest hit,... [read more]

Is the Market Slowing Down?

Tuesday May 2nd, 2017

The provincial government is trying to slow the GTA's hot, crazy market down, but there was a shift before Kathleen Wynne's announcement. Of course, there are areas that will not cool off the same way some have, but it will be interesting to see if the slow down Realtors have noticed will last and how the government's plan will play out.  To read...
